A Message from the President

president With great expectations on the part of local citizens, who were still suffering from the effects of a massive disaster, Kobe City College of Nursing was built alongside the reconstruction of the city following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake of January, 1995. The strong-willed, yet compassionate nature of the citizens, who struggled against so many hardships and who pulled through against all odds, reflects the very spirit of the college. In the process, we have learned just how important it is to help and support each other. In other words,‘care’is an indispensable factor, without which our society cannot exist and continue to develop. At our college, we are investigating ‘care,’a concept directly associated with human life, using a scientific approach. We also aim to develop a new system to effectively utilize the results we obtain, with a view to contributing to the development of the nursing profession.

The 21st century is a great, global turning point for political, economic, environmental and population problems. In particular, health care, medical care and welfare are all increasingly necessary in our society. Nurisng care activities, which have such an important role to play, can be expected to paly an ever-greater role and, indeed, we can see that this is becoming more and more important. It depends on us as to whether we can establish a society in this country where we can care for others and where we place a high value on such care in the coming century.

Every generation has young people who see social problems as their own problems, and who try to decide on their own way of life for themselves. We need such young people in our college. How are you starting your life at the beginning of the new century?

With its beautiful campus and talented teachers, Kobe City College of Nursing promises to support your self-fulfillment.
